What would you say were your most valuable skills when you were 35-40 years old?
Feedback from managers and peers had a few themes:
- Ability to lead hundreds of people across disciplines
- Strong strategic thinking about building successful sites across geographies
- Good at recruiting senior leaders and star performers
- Compelling communicator across levels and disciplines
35-40 was the peak of my commercial value in industry because those skills are both valuable and uncommon.

Thanks for the extra information. Most people never get past IC6, though, so it’s not clear to me that earlier promos are better.
